Job Description:  The Office Manager is the first point of contact to our customers – parents, students, teachers.  (S)He provides and/or facilitates day-to-day administrative support for the school and reports directly to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as receptionist – answering calls & taking messages
  • Collect, collates, updates and maintains ALL records for students & staff  
  • Posts & or distributes all school information in a timely manner
  • Assists in the development of all school communication (newsletters, calendars, announcements etc.)
  • Assists Executive Director & Principal with other duties

Characteristics and Qualifications:

  • Ability to multi-task with excellent time management skills
  • Excellent communicator with a high level of personal integrity and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of  project management software & other graphics programs
  • Managerial office experience (especially in an academic setting) preferred
  • College Degree a plus

Title : Core Teachers

Job Description:  The Core Teachers will help develop and implement the curriculum in the core subjects – Math, science, history & ELA.  All teachers will report directly to the Principal.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach a minimum of four periods daily.
  • Maintain student attendance and punctuality data for each period.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data regarding student achievement on internal assessments.
  • Provide detailed data analysis of internal assessments to the Principal.
  • Provide academic support to students at least 3 times per week.
  • Enforce all school rules inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Oversee student lunch periods, arrival and dismissal.
  • Oversee student advisory group.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with parents via updates

Title : Director of Student Affairs

Job Description:  The Director of Student Affairs is responsible for overseeing non-academic student issues and concerns.  S/He will serve as an additional liasion between the school & parents – ensuring consistent and timely communication.  S/He reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Advocate for the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the school among faculty and staff.
  • Design and implement programs that promote positive student behavior & motivate them to exhibit the leadership values of the school.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of programs that empower and encourage parents to facilitate strong academic and behavioral achievement of their students.
  • Ensure strict enforcement of the student code of conduct.
  • Monitor student accumulation of scholar dollars and demerits ensuring that students receive the proper rewards and consequences they have earned.
  • Serve as primary contact between court system and school concerning behavioral issues when necessary.
  • Communicate regularly with families concerning the behavioral challenges of students, communicating ways in which these challenges may be overcome.
  • Oversees & schedule parent orientation.
  • Mediate conflicts – student-to-student & teacher-to-student
  • Collaborate with Principal concerning student discipline.
  • Oversees & assists with detention and homework center.

Title : Principal

Job Description:  The Principal provides management, supervision & direction for every facet of the school’s operation that directly impacts student learning.  This will include monitoring of classroom instruction, management of all internal and external assessment data, and curriculum development for all subject areas. 

Responsibilities:

  • Reports to & communicates regularly with the Executive Director concerning student achievement, curriculum development, professional development, staff evaluations, and the budgetary needs
  • Serves as instruction leader with oversight of curriculum development and student assessment (internal and external)
  • Implements effective internal assessment systems to monitor academic progress of students throughout the year
  • Implements & manages systems for data analysis of all internal and external assessments
  • Ensures curriculum alignment with standards for the District of Columbia
  • Coordinate teacher recruitment & assist Executive Director in staff hiring process
  • Plan and implement summer staff orientation.
  • Facilitates positive faculty dynamics – attending teacher meeting, offering teacher support etc.
  • Articulate and model the school’s values to students, families, staff and the community
  • Supervises the management of all school records

Title : Special Needs Coordinator

Job Description:  The Special Needs Coordinator ensures that special needs students receive the proper accommodations within the classroom.  S/He will develop & maintain all records for students with special needs. The Special Needs Coordinator reports to the Principal.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and review special education needs of incoming students as indicated on the family questionnaire responses
  • Coordinate with schools to receive IEPs and 504s of all incoming students.
  • Schedule pull-out services for students on an as-needed basis
  • Follow ALL Federal and District guidelines namely those concerning the development and implementation of IEPs and 504s
  • Facilitate necessary testing for evaluation process
  • Coordinate with Principal & teachers regarding any pre-referral meetings
  • Coordinate with Principal and grade-level teachers to monitor implementation of appropriate accommodations for students during instruction
  • Serve as primary point of contact for parents with questions regarding special needs issues
  • Organize and coordinate professional development opportunities for general and special education teachers
  • Assist with hiring process for special education professionals
  • Coordinate annual or biannual formative and summative evaluations of the special education program

Characteristics and Qualifications:
